Quote from Deepali Trehan
We established Altera University with the singular goal of training the next generation of FPGA developers with both the AI and logic development skills needed to thrive in today’s modern workforce. For companies to succeed today, it’s all about the speed of innovation and their ability to rapidly integrate AI into their systems. Through Altera University, we’re enabling professors to bring these real-world experiences to their students using cutting-edge programmable solutions.
Through Altera University, professors can incorporate the latest design techniques using modern FPGA tools, providing students with hands-on experience and real-world skills that help prepare them for their careers. The program spans four different courses focused on digital logic, digital systems, computer organization, and embedded systems, with curriculum, tutorials, and lab exercises designed to bridge the gap between academia and real-world innovation. Higher-level FPGA courses also include AI curriculum, ensuring students can stay aligned with industry trends and develop an understanding of usage models for FPGAs in the AI workflow.
Program members receive access to the latest FPGA tools and resources needed to develop Altera FPGAs, including Altera’s Quartus Development Tool Suite, which is available with no-cost licenses to Altera Quartus Prime FPGA development software, FPGA AI Suite and tools, FPGA simulator tools, and an integrated development environment for use with Altera’s RISC-V soft processor, Nios® V. Professors and students also gain access to affordable FPGA development kits suited for advanced coursework, along with reference designs and supporting resources.
Additional Benefits Altera University Members Receive Include:
Academic discounts on select Altera FPGAs used for developing custom hardware solutions.
Academic discounts on higher-end DE-series boards from Terasic before July 8th, 2025.
A 20 percent discount on select Altera’s Agilex™ 7 FPGA-based development kits.
A 50 percent discount on LabsLand before July 8, 2025. LabsLand is a remote laboratory with access to Altera FPGAs.
The course lab work available through Altera University can be structured by professors using pre-developed curricula with hands-on lab kits or in remote environments like LabsLand.
