Using the Synplify Premier (Amplify) Software with the Quartus II Software

You can use the Synplify Premier software (formerly known as Amplify) to perform physical synthesis on a design after compilation with the Quartus II software. For best results when using the physical synthesis features in the Synplify Premier software, Synplicity recommends back-annotating the timing and placement information from the Quartus II software, and then using the physical analyst and island timing analyst features in the Synplify Premier graphical user interface. Then, forward-annotate the constraints from physical synthesis into the Quartus II software.

To use the Synplify Premier software as the physical synthesis tool:

  1. On the Assignments menu, click EDA Tool Settings.

  2. Select Physical Synthesis.

  3. In the Tool name list, select Amplify.

  4. Click OK.

A PSD Output File is created in the <project name>\resynthesis\amplfy\ directory as <project name>.psd when you run the Synplify Premier software or the Quartus II software.

For more information on using the Synplify Premier (Amplify) software with your Quartus II design, see the "Synplicity Amplify Physical Synthesis Support" chapter in volume 1 of the Quartus II Handbook or go to http://www.synplicity.com.
