Device Configuration

Different Altera® devices support different configuration schemes. For information on the schemes supported by an Altera device family, or for a summary of the configuration schemes supported by Altera devices, select from the following list:

Configuration Guide

The Configuration Guide page provides an overview of Altera FPGA configuration schemes and a general comparison of the schemes to guide you in choosing the one that best suits your design requirements.

Configuration Devices

You can store the FPGA configuration data in non-volatile configuration devices. During power up, the configuration device loads the SRAM cells in the FPGA with configuration data.

Download Cables

Altera offers a wide range of download cables that support FPGA configuration and configuration device programming. During the prototyping stage, Altera download cables allow you to download design changes directly to the device without using configuration devices.

Reference Solutions

Altera provides additional reference solutions to configure Altera FPGAs and to program Altera configuration devices, including the following:

Configuration Troubleshooters

You can troubleshoot your configuration issues by following the step-by-step guide in the configuration troubleshooters.

Literature

Altera provides the Configuration Handbook and other configuration-related literature.
