Altera and its partners provide a variety of ATM functions, including delineation, filtering, segmentation and reassembly, and inverse multiplexing. Point-to-point protocol (PPP) is a full-duplex protocol that can be used on various physical mediums including twisted pair, fiber optic, or satellite transmission. PPP uses a variation of high-speed data link control (HDLC) for packet encapsulation.
