Course Description
This course introduces you to the Nios® II embedded soft processor core v. 8.0, the SOPC Builder tool, and the Nios II IDE integrated software development environment. You will learn how to utilize the SOPC Builder to easily develop and configure fully-customized Nios II processor-based hardware systems at the touch of a button. The class will also give you insight in how to develop software for programmable logic devices and take advantage of the Nios II Development Kits in order to prototype your designs. We discuss some of the components and peripherals available for you to use with the kits and how you can easily incorporate your own custom logic into any system.
At Course Completion
- Ability to configure the Nios II embedded processor using the Quartus® II software and SOPC Builder tool
- Comfort with the Nios II IDE integrated software development environment
- Start-to-finish knowledge of the design flows that feature the Nios II processor
- Ability to generate Nios II processor hardware description language (HDL) output files from SOPC Builder

We recommend completing the following courses:
Skills Required

- Some knowledge of programming in C for embedded systems
